Future Inquiries

Since Rogem Hiri is relatively recent on the scene of archaeology and will remain a structure of study, I propose a series of questions and suggestions that could further future research attempts and perhaps reveal more about Rogem Hiri.  Several sources mentioned the presence of petroglyphs at and around the site but failed to elaborate on them.  A further analysis of the complex series of stone formations (walls, geometric constructions, and dolmans) surrounding Rogem Hiri should be investigated to determine if they are extensions of the main geometric structure.  Rogem Hiri’s architects demonstrated their ability to lay perfectly concentric circles (as demonstrated in the site’s northern region), so the southern bulge must have been purposely constructed and should be investigated.  The purpose of the southeast gate is still unknown.  One cannot deny the similarity between Rogem Hiri and other stone circles (For example Stonehenge also has a northeast portal aligned to the solstice and is associated with dolmen constructions) so comparisons should be made in structure and purpose of these other sites. How could so advanced an understanding of mathematics and cosmology be so thoroughly developed by a pastoral culture which did not specialize in building permanent structures?  The culture of the Golan Heights populations should be further explored to isolate a cultic need for an intricate calendar system.  Any of these questions would provide a starting point for further research.
